Apprentices Update
The Apprentices have been busy over the past couple months!
Ben has been working hard on his studies lately, with his next exam on the Elements of Costing right around the corner, although we know he will pass with flying colours! Ben has been doing lots of customer-facing jobs recently. He deals with our trade customers on the phone when they have any finance queries and questions, always being able to help them quickly, efficiently and professionally. This is a vital role as some people may have issues with payments and invoices which, if not sorted correctly, can have big impacts. We are proud to see how far he has come since he joined, and how confident he has got when handling customers. He even got his hands dirty and helped out with our hop harvest! Pulling down the bines and feeding them to the hop picker is not easy work but soon, Ben became a natural at it.
I (Alex) have had a busy couple of months. I have officially started my apprenticeship! I have 20 seminars over the space of 18 months and attend them virtually with 2 other students on my course. I look forward to learning more about marketing knowing that I have a capable team from both Hogs Back Brewery and JGA helping me where needed and providing ongoing support as I make my journey to becoming a qualified Marketeer. As my role develops in the business, I am placed with more responsibility. I am currently working on a new project to increase ROS (Rate of Sale) by hosting a competition to win a VIP day at the brewery. We decided on using peel and reveal labels in place of our current neck labels to deliver the message, so keep your eye out on the supermarket shelves in the next few months for our competition bottles!
Euan has been extra busy getting muddy in the Sunken Garden. All this work helps him build up his portfolio where he records himself doing specific tasks and submits them for assessment at the end of his apprenticeship. He's even helped with putting up our nice shiny new sign next to the Brewery doors and painting the building that used to be M&J's! Why not pop down and check it out? Euan's currently been studying up on health and safety, including PPE and hazards in the workplace. He's also received glowing feedback on his portfolio videos from his assessor!
All three of us came together for the Board Meeting, in which we were able to talk about our experiences at the TEA Academy! Even though we all work in different departments, it was great to get together and work as a team.
We were also kindly invited to the Great British Beer Festival with trade coworkers Dom and Paul, and MD Rupert up in London on 2nd August! Being able to explore different beers from across the globe, alongside perries, wines and gins was a fantastic experience and you can read all about it here.
If you’re interested in becoming part of the TEA Academy, register your interest here as we are sure to have some exciting opportunities come up soon…
