Supporting Local Suppliers on Surrey Day

It’s Surrey Day on Saturday 7th May, so we’re shining a light on the best of our local Surrey suppliers.

Supporting local businesses is really important to us, so here are just some of our stars we work with….

Family-run butcher, Alf Turner & Sons, needs no introduction.  We’ve been stocking their award-winning sausages in the Brewery Shop for years.  Hair of the Hog and Pickled Pig sausages, made with our beer, can’t be beaten on the barbeque, with a pint!  In fact, they are so good, we’ve put them on our Breakfast Menu at the Tap. A tasty sausage bap or burger before a brewery tour is the perfect start to your Saturday! Their sausage rolls are pretty tasty too.

But did you know that in 2012, Paul Turner appeared on Dragon’s Den?  He successfully attracted the backing of Peter Jones to promote a selection of quality sausages made at the family business just down the road in Aldershot, using the recipes of his grandfather, Alf Turner, with Hogs Back beer in the recipe.  With Peter Jones’ help and investment, Paul now has his grandfather’s sausages in supermarkets all over the country….as well as the Brewery Shop and Tap here in Tongham.

We’ve long been fans of Loseley’s famous Surrey ice-cream, made with rich Jersey cream from their pedigree herd of Jersey cows.   A luxurious way to cool down on a hot summer’s day. Their ice-cream was first produced from a dairy herd kept by the More-Monlyneux family at Loseley Park Estate near Guildford. To this day, it's still made with the same original recipe and created with the freshest milk from their herd of pedigree Jersey cows. We love their vintage ice-cream van too!  Look out for it at the Hop Harvest Festival & TEA Party this September.

If it’s cake you’re after, look no further than our sliced selection from Loseley Bakery.  Nestled in the Surrey Hills on the Loseley Park Estate, with its Elizabethan mansion, surrounded by 1400 acres of parkland, Loseley Bakery is run by its owner and head baker, Stephen.  It’s hard to choose a favourite from their hand-baked range but we think it might just be zingy Lemon Drizzle.  Or maybe velvety Chocolate Brownie?

What could go better with cake than a hot cup of coffee? Coffee Real, on the Surrey & West Sussex border, have their own roastery houses with the latest technology, a cupping room, brewing lab, training room and a hot tub filled with the latest new crop offering.  Established in 2008, they believe a cup of coffee should be delicious, sweet and complex.  With coffee beans selected from around the world, but roasted locally, that’s exactly what Coffee Real delivers!

There’s perfect pies every time, with South England Pastries.

South England Pastries is a family owned and run business which manufactures and distributes a wide range of frozen pastry and pie cases, and are also the producers of Granny Mo's Traditional Pies, a selection of traditional pies, pasties and pork pies of the finest quality. They developed a range of products that had a traditional, home made flavour, and were full of top quality meat and gravy.

The business is still owned and run by John and Richard and still makes products based on Maureen’s recipes. Maureen is now a grandmother who is known by her six grandchildren as Granny Mo, hence the name Granny Mo's Traditional Pies!
