Apprentices on track at the TEA Academy!
As it’s the 15th annual National Apprenticeship Week, we felt this was the perfect time to check in on our founding members of the TEA Academy.
This year’s theme is “build the future” and that could not be more appropriate as Ben, Euan and Callum continue to develop their skills for their future careers.
Our apprentices have been with us for four months, covering a range of areas within the business. With the support of their dedicated mentors and aided with one study day per week, they are in the perfect environment to Train, Experience and Achieve!
Callum has joined us on a hospitality apprenticeship, working primarily in the Hogs Back Tap. So far on his journey with the brewery he has learned skills in customer service, barista training and cellar management. He has also been familiarising himself with licencing laws and the legislation that guides operations in the bar. He put these skills to good use, paying a key role in our successful Burns Night event recently.
Meanwhile Euan is working on a property maintenance apprenticeship and has been heavily involved in the construction of our new kitchen. He’s delighted to be at the TEA Academy, telling me “I have always enjoyed working with my hands so to be able to learn property maintenance and safety is great. I am learning lots of new skills that will be useful for everything I have to come in the future”.
Last but not least we have Ben, our accounts apprentice. He is studying for his AAT qualification whilst getting hands on experience in day-to-day office life. So far he says that he is most proud of his presentation he gave to the Exec Team where he showcased his knowledge of our business and also different legal entities.
Brewery owner Rupert Thompson commented, "The Hogs Back Brewery is proud to be one of thousands of companies to give young people the opportunity to fulfil their potential whilst gaining valuable experience through the TEA Academy".
Over the next few months, we will be looking for future recruits across more disciplines, including retail and brewing. If this sounds like the right opportunity for you keep checking the Jobs section of our website.
