When the 4th Farnham (Tongham) Scout Group approached us about using the Hangar as their temporary base, while their new Scout HQ was being built, we were delighted to be able to help.
The leaders of the Group have always been a tremendous support at our annual Hop Harvest Festival & TEA Party, taking care of all the parking as well as helping on the Entrance Gates and in the Kids Zone, so we could now return the favour!
Over the last 5 months, the Beavers and Cub Scouts have enjoyed a variety of activities – some of the highlights include playing outdoor games in the field beside the hop garden, using the stage to perform the Chinese New Year story to the parents, and cooking pancakes under the canopy.
There have been evenings to cover some Beaver Badges like Disability Awareness, Space and International Badges, as well as a talk from local historians about Remembrance Day and First Aid training including CPR!
The Scout Group has successfully funded and nearly completed the building of Phase 1 of the purpose-built, watertight Scout HQ at the Tongham Recreation Ground.
Fundraising is under way for Phase 2 to provide toilets, showers, kitchen, flooring, electrics and heating.
It may take a few more months before the 4th Farnham (Tongham) Scouts can move into their new HQ, but they’re very welcome to stay at the Brewery until then!
