Commis Chef Apprentice

Love home cooking and looking to start a career in the kitchen?  We’re on the hunt for a Level II Commis Chef Apprentice to join our ever-expanding team in the Tap kitchen.

Based at the Brewery Tap in Tongham, this is a hands-on learning experience, with full training provided and working alongside the Tap team.  Coupled with 8 hours a week online self-learning and 5 off-site tuition days with practical learning sessions, it’s a great introduction to see how the hospitality industry really works.

You’ll be prepping dishes as well as learning how to cook, garnish and present a whole range of recipes and menu ideas.  You’ll help with the all-important cleaning down at the end of the day.  You will cover Food Hygiene, Health & Safety and Nutrition as essential parts of your training, as well as practical learning modules on Bakery & Patisserie, Bread & Dough, Game & Offal, Shellfish & Fish and Vegetables & Vegetable Protein.
