Have we got a treat for you! The highly acclaimed “The Thinking Drinkers Pub Quiz” will be coming to the Hangar on Friday 11th November at 8pm.
Fresh from their sell-out performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August, The Thinking Drinkers are pioneers of alcohol-based comedy and their new much-anticipated show gets the rounds in….in more ways than one.
Over 18's only. We operate Challenge 25, so if you are lucky enough to look under 25, we will ask for appropriate ID when you check in.
The “Thinking Drinkers Pub Quiz” is an interactive imbibing experience that gives each and every audience member FIVE FREE discerning alcoholic drinks which, along with a whole load of laughter and learning, makes it the greatest value-for-money show in town.
This unique and interactive imbibing experience, which shakes up the iconic British pub quiz and makes it even better, is hosted by award-winning alcohol experts, comedians and drinks historians Tom Sandham and Ben McFarland, whose latest book was named Drinks Book of the Year 2021 by The Sunday Times.
As theatre-goers compete head-to-head, with a quiz sheet and pencil in one hand – and a selection of damn fine drinks in the other, Ben and Tom lead them on a hilarious exploration of alcohol’s influence on every aspect of humanity – from geography and language to history, religion, music, film and, most crucially, the intricate mating habits of a German butterfly.
Ben McFarland said:
“The pub quiz is an iconic intellectual, elbow-bending institution but we’ve taken it to a higher level. Even if you don’t like pub quizzes, and even if you’re a bit thick, you’ll have a great time with some dazzling drinks and may even win some prizes.”
Tom Sandham added:
“Some people reckon that drink can decrease the number of brain cells but our Pub Quiz is sure to perk up your prefrontal cortex and increase them…probably. While everyone enjoys a quality collection of complimentary drinks, we’ll be taking them on an entertaining, intoxicating journey through history – while putting them through an extremely thorough quizzical.”
This year’s luxury, life-enhancing liquids include a phenomenally fruity British gin from Brockmans, a legendary lager from German brewers Krombacher, a sensational Venezuelan sipping rum called Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, an iconic whisky from Johnnie Walker, a beautifully balanced Kentucky straight bourbon from the geniuses at Elijah Craig in the USA and luxury mixer, The London Essence Co., which creates elegant tonics and crafted sodas with pure flavours, using botanicals selected by a team of flavour experts and gently distilled to capture their essence.
So, come slide gently onto the bar stool of drinking discovery as the Thinking Drinkers prove, once and for all, that many of life’s most important – and utterly irrelevant – questions can be found at the bottom of a glass.
