Hogs Back Roots: Original Music

Join us on Friday 15th September for our sensational Hogs Back Roots live session.

In the first of our big-name Roots nights of original music, we'll be showcasing the stunning Seth Lakeman, the West Country folk singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, together with two sizzling support bands for a night to remember.

On the outdoor Festival stage, starting at 7pm:

7.00 - 8.00pm Jim Cozens

A classic singer songwriter and story teller, his songs are personal, universal, joyful and moving. In a long, eclectic career he’s written songs for other artists, music for radio, television and movie productions, musical theatre and survived the 1988 Eurovision circus. He studied at the college of Lennon and McCartney and has a first class honours degree in James Taylor.

8.15 - 9.15pm J Lee and the Hoodoo Skulls

Lo-Fi riff laden gutsy rock with powerful vocals, Rock'n'Roll sensibilities with an added modern anthemic spice. That'll be J Lee and the Hoodoo Skulls. Their new album ‘Beggars’s Soul’ is a bluesy roots album littered with rocking riffs and sassy brass, which has led to them being tipped as the band to watch in Classic Rock Magazine.

9.45 - 11.00pm Seth Lakeman

Seth Lakeman was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2005 for ‘Kitty Jay’. It catapulted Lakeman into the forefront of the new British folk movement and his follow up was the gold-selling Freedom Fields. He has since released 6 UK Top 40 albums. Seth was also delighted to be asked in late 2022 to record on Van Morrison’s new album Moving On Skiffle which was released in March this year. He has previously worked and toured extensively with Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) with his band the Sensational Space Shifters. His current album ‘Make Your Mark’ is out now with a Record Store Day release ‘The Somerset Sessions’. He is accompanied by Benji Kirkpatrick & Alex Hart.
