Pins Put In An Appearance
Out in the hop garden, pins are popping up everywhere! The hop plants continue their push to the top of the wires....
....but look closely where the pair of lateral leaves come out from the bine so see the first pins.
They are sprouting all over the garden – on Farnham White Bine, Fuggles and even now on Cascade, which is usually the last one!
The pins are the precursors to the burrs, which in turn become the precious hop cones that we harvest. It will take another couple of weeks before the spiky burrs appear but for now we pleased to see all the pins!
