Stringing 2026 Starts!
Spring has sprung and stringing has begun!

With singing skylarks and grazing sheep for company, Estate Manager Matthew has started the monumental task of single-handedly stringing the entire 8.5 acre hop garden here at the Brewery.

Stringing traditionally starts with the arrival of meteorological spring.

Under beautiful blue skies, Matthew is making good progress.

With 6,500 hop plants, each with 4 strings to provide the vital support for the hops as they grow, it will take over 100 miles of coconut coir to string the whole garden.

Luckily the sheep have done an outstanding job in nibbling back the unwanted hop shoots so Matthew can easily get to the pegs.

But the sheep have still got some work to do as they gradually move up the hill to graze the remaining hop shoots.
