Hop Cones Coming On
The first of this season’s hop cones are here! Spotted high up on the strings in the Hop Garden, these perfectly formed home-grown hop cones will continue to ripen in the coming weeks to develop their all-important aroma and flavour before they are harvested at their peak of freshness by Matthew and his team of Hoppers in September.

The Farnham White hop cones have been the first to show, with Fuggles beginning to show and Cascade bringing up the rear as usual.

Meanwhile the Hoppers have been busy getting the Hop Picker ready for action, carrying out essential maintenance so the picker runs smoothly for the harvest.

The Picking Fingers have also been getting a good old clean.

Now all the sticky hop resin from last year’s harvest has thoroughly dried out, it is much easier to remove!
