Hogs Back Brewery Hop Harvest 2017
On 21st September 2017, the harvest of the Hogs Back Brewery hop garden began as the crew and machines from Hampton Estate, Puttenham arrived. Using a combination of both machine and cutting by hand, the hop bines are cut down then transported back to the Hampton Estate's new oast to be plucked, dried and placed in bales. After two full days of harvesting well into darkness, the hop garden was stripped of hops just in time for the Harvest celebration on Saturday 23rd September. We look forward to receiving bales of dried Farnham White, Fuggles, English Cascade and Pioneer hops back at the Brewery in due course so that we can begin brewing with them! We live streamed the start of the harvest on Facebook - why not take a look here. You can also take a look at the fast forward video of the hops once they reach the oast here.
