Exmoor Tawny Launches! - Hogs Back Brewery

Exmoor Tawny Launches!

Brewing Back in Wivey!

It’s a proud moment for everyone at Exmoor down in Wiveliscombe!  Having moved next door to the old Cotleigh Brewery in Ford Road, Wiveliscombe, the brewhouse is back up and running!

Under the watchful eye of former Cotleigh head brewer, Shaun Vockins, the first ale out of the door is Exmoor Tawny.

A modern twist on a traditional tawny beer style - this 3.8% beer has a robust malty backbone with subtle hop hints and bags of character.

To celebrate the welcome return of brewing back in Wivey after a very brief break, 10p from every pint of Exmoor Tawny Ale sold will go the Jim Lake Fund, a charitable trust founded in memory of a Wivey legend, who originally owned Exmoor Ales.

Even more good news, Exmoor Tawny is coming soon to the Brewery Shop and Tap, all the way from its Somerset home.

The Jim Laker Fund (JLF) was set up in 1997 following Jim’s unexpectedly early death the previous year. He was the Managing Director of Exmoor Ales and inspiration behind WestFest, Wiveliscombe’s beer and music festival. Friends and business colleagues set up the fund in his memory to continue the tradition of support for local community organisations in need of help. Small grants (usually up to £500), interest free loans and grants against loss are available from the fund, as well as practical support and advice.

Since it was set up, JLF has raised over £67,000 for local causes.

All money raised by the JLF is put back into the community through application to the Jim Laker Fund.
