Blooming Good Quiz!
Last night's Charity Quiz had the biggest turn out yet…with 35 tables of quizzers.
Our charity this month, was the Badshot Lea Community Garden and the numbers were swelled by a healthy contingent of their “Bloomers”, led by Bloomers Coordinator, John Martin.
Quizmaster Bruce soon had the audience focused, starting with a very topical “In the News” round!
This month’s wide-ranging topics included History, Sport, General Knowledge and True or False, with such challenging questions in the Entertainment round as:
Q: On 5th June 2021, what happened when a squirrel met a car wash?
A: The Carwash won! Carwash, aka Gymnast Louis Smith, won the Masked Singer.
But as ever, Bruce threw in plenty of fun questions:
Q: Who has the most Twitter followers – NASA or Bruno Mars?
A: NASA (but they only recently overtook Bruno Mars!)….
….and he just couldn’t resist some beer-related questions:
Q: In which industry do you find a copper and a kettle?
A: Brewing
Name the Movie Theme Tune got everyone singing along, especially to Grease!
True or False had some real teasers…..
Q: When Philip Oakey first met Susan Sulley, she was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar?
A: False – they met in a night club.
Bruce changed it up this month for the Picture Round, challenging the teams to identify the close up images from around the whole Brewery, including a pizza dough base, a keg valve and the seat of our custom-built motorcycle!
At the end of the evening, The Dads triumphed….
No Name came a creditable second – they were so surprised to be in the running, they hadn’t even thought of a team name!
Under Three Foot High took the consolation prize.
With plenty of beer and good cheer, the evening proved a big success.
A big thank you to everyone who took part and generously donated to the Badshot Lea Community Garden, which is well worth a visit - they even grow some of our hops behind their Kiln. The Bloomers received a well-deserved cheer!
A special thank you to the generous gentleman who made a donation for a Cheese Board, which wasn't claimed and which he didn't want to see go to waste!
** Our next Quiz is Thursday 11th August ** in aid of our local Scout group, the 4th Farnham (Tongham), because it is our 30th birthday on 4th August and we have something rather special planned for that date. More information coming soon!
