Hop Garden Open Evening on 26th August

Hop Garden Open Evening on 26th August

Join us for our Hop Garden Open Evening 2026 on Wednesday 26th August from 6pm - 8pm.

The team will be on hand to show you the hop garden in all its glory, just prior to the hop harvest.

Uncover Farnham’s rich hop growing history and how Surrey was once the pre-eminent hop growing county in England.

Hear how we built our own hop garden, just yards from the Brewhouse, and how we look after our hop plants all year round.  Find out about the team of Hogs Back Hopper volunteers, who help out in the hop garden, including the forthcoming harvest.

Discover the different hop varieties we grow and which of our beers they feature in.

Learn the very important difference between a male and female hop plant!

"Rub a hop" to release the all-important hop oils and smell its unique character.

The team will be offering a 30-minute mini tour in the hop garden itself.

Reserve your place now.

Tours will be starting every 10 to 15 minutes from the Beer Garden.

On the night, check in at the Hangar and join one of the tours!

The last tour is scheduled for 7.30pm so don’t miss it!

It’s £5 per person which we will donate to this year’s chosen charity, Diabetes UK, and this includes a pint of Tongham TEA or Little Swine Alcohol Free Pale Ale.  A soft drink alternative will be available too.

After the tour, you’re welcome to stay on. Pizzas and additional drinks will be available to purchase.  What better place to enjoy these than from the beer garden, which overlooks the hop garden!

Why not take advantage of our Pizza & Pint deal for £15?

If you are a member of the Tongham TEA Club, it's free.  Just click through from the Tongham TEA Club invitation emailer.

Families welcome.  We regret dogs are not allowed in the hop garden, but are more than welcome in the Brewery Tap and Beer Garden.  No unaccompanied children.  Maximum of 2 people per booking.

The ground in the hop garden can be a bit uneven, so please wear appropriate footwear.  You will need to walk through a mild disinfectant “boot bath” as a biosecurity measure before you go into the hop garden.

Booking essential.

If we've whetted your appetite or piqued your curiosity, why not sign up for a Hop Garden Tour proper?  Or volunteer as a Hogs Back Hopper all year round?
