Tongham Tea Club raises funds for Macmillan at tasting event
Tongham TEA Club members and their guests gathered on a pleasant April evening to try two of our favourite limited edition ales.
The Hogs Back Brewery has maintained the tradition of brewing Friday 13th on this date ever since 1995, when six swans flew into the overhead cables and caused a power cut at a critical time in the brewing process. Honey was added to make the beer ferment and the resulting brew was so delicious, it has been brewed every time this date falls in the calendar.
Hogswallop, a 4.2% red rye ale, with distinctive spicy notes and an earthy, hoppy finish, was first launched to mark the referendum, but is back by popular demand.
Members and guests had the opportunity to taste the beers at leisure and generously donated over £200 via the Honesty Box, for the additional pints they drank. So a big thank you to all concerned! The money has been donated to Macmillan, our chosen charity for this year.
