Sneak Preview!

Our lovely new tenants, Surrey Hills Butchers, are opening their doors to give you a sneaky peak around their shop.

Surrey Hills Butchers

If you’re passing, pop in to say hello.   They may not quite have the full selection yet, but there will definitely be a tempting selection to sear on the BBQ and a tasty centrepiece for the family’s Sunday lunch!

Surrey Hills Butchers

The grand opening is taking place on Saturday 10th June – so make a note in your diary.  You’ll be able to meet founder, Simon Taylor, and the team for some samples off the BBQ and some socialising. More details to follow soon but please check their website for current opening hours.

We asked Surrey Hills Butchers to tell us a little bit more about themselves:

Surrey Hills Butchers was founded in Surrey in 2011 by Simon Taylor. We select the finest, best quality meats with a focus on working with local likeminded farmers and suppliers. We are very lucky to have some great farmers around us and to be based next door to the Surrey Hills, as well as having great contacts at Smithfield Market. We mix with the sort of people who care about their livestock; from field to plate starts very much with the farmer. Every step of our food’s journey is important, from how the animal is fed to how it is slaughtered. Not to mention how it is butchered and cooked!

Simon’s passion for the butchery industry started at the age of thirteen when he took his first job in a traditional high street butchers hop. It was from there that Simon’s love from the industry began to grow and 28 years on he is now the successful owner of Surrey Hills Butchers. Simon has been very fortunate to have worked with some amazing people within the industry through social media and TV, as well as appearing at some of the UK’s top food festivals.

Having worked in butchers most of his life, Simon understands the importance of keeping the traditional skills alive and aims to train and educate as many butchers as he can during his career. This has led him to Captain Team GB in the World Butchers Challenge requiring Simon to create and develop innovating dishes that can compete on the world stage.

Simon is truly a passionate advocate for the butchery industry and aims to inspire the future generation so that we can revive the trade and keep highlighting the importance of the craft.

We’re sure they are going to be great neighbours!
