Hogs Back back on national TV - Hogs Back Brewery

Hogs Back back on national TV

If you were watching Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh yesterday, you would have seen a familiar sight – our hop garden at harvest time!

Back in September, at the height of the hop harvest, our very own Hop Estate Manager Matthew hosted a visit from presenter Marverine Cole.

Marverine, a distinguished, award-winning journalist and broadcaster, is a familiar face on ITV1’s Sunday morning programme, Love Your Weekend, from her brewery visits.

A beer sommelier and self-confessed “beer geek”, Marverine was keen to learn all about the history of growing hops in Surrey, why Hogs Back grows it own hops and to see the harvest first hand – including helping Matthew bring in the hop bines from the hop garden on the back of the trailer.

The hop garden was looking a picture in the sunshine.

While they were filming on set, we snapped some surreptitious shots!

No visit to the Hogs Back Brewery would be complete without a tasting, so a well-earned pint of Tongham TEA was enjoyed at the end of day.

It was a joy to host Marverine and producer/cameraman Justin, who were both so  enthusiastic and interested in the hops and the brewery.

Catch the clip from Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh here, which runs from 43.37’ – 47.41’.
