Live at the Hogs Back Tap!
Live entertainment is back at the Hogs Back Tap this Winter! Following the popularity of our music sessions in the summer, we are announcing a programme of live acoustic music, jazz sessions, comedy nights and live sport screenings to help you get through the dark winter nights.
These will take place in the Hangar bar and newly installed heated marquee each weekend until the end of November starting this Friday with the great, up-and-coming local band Armstrong. The hangar has been renovated to make it a great space for events with the new Hop Kiln Stage and heating system. All tables are socially distanced and we will be able to serve drinks and food to your table. Bookings are now open for the first few weeks of entertainment and details are below.
Our live music kicks off with some of our favourite acts from the summer and we will look to add different acts and musical styles later in the winter.
Friday 30th October: Armstrong - anthemic indie rock infused with emotionally driven lyrics, catchy pop melodies and a driving rhythm section to create their unique and signature sound.
Saturday 7th November: Grizzly Rhys Morgan - His distinctive raw vocals and original music ranges from folk songs to foot-stomping Roots & Blues tunes that keep his loyal followers coming back for more.
Saturday 14th November: The TR5s - bringing maximum skiffle & roll from the dancehall days, somewhere between The Cavern Club and Canvey Island. Expect some classic rock & roll covers from The Beatles, Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly and Gerry & the Pacemakers.
We have installed a large projector screen in the Hangar too so that you can finally watch the climax to the Six Nations this Saturday. Book your table for 1, 2 or all 3 matches! We will also be looking to show more of the Autumn Internationals (details to follow).
Join us for our Sunday Jazz Lunch sessions with a series of local accomplished Jazz and Swing performers from the Guildford Jazz scene.
Sunday 1st November: Sam Parker Trio - Sam will play a collection of well loved swing and latin standards with accomplished bassist and jazz entrepreneur, Marianne Windham and the fine local jazz pianist, Dave Kirby.
Sunday 8th November: Mark Jones Trio - Tenor saxophonist Mark will play alongside David Kirby on piano and Joe Yeadon on double bass.
Sunday 15th November: Katie's Crooked Swing Trio - playing jazz standards and a few modern randoms thrown in with a vintage twist.
We all need a cheering antidote at the moment and we are delighted to be starting Friday night comedy in the Hangar.
Friday 6th November - Kicking off with a bang with Milton Jones as seen on Live at the Apollo and Mock The Week. Supported by Prince Abdi as seen on ITVs Show me the Funny and Matt Price as seen on Comedy Central.
You can book a table for 2, 4 or 6 people at £30, £60 or £90 accordingly (£15 per person). Future acts to be announced in the coming days.
