Hoppers Start of Season Get-Together
Hoppers old and new met up this week at the Start of Season get-together in the Brewery Tap. Hosted by Estate Manager Matthew, it was a chance for the newest volunteers to meet the team and learn all about the hop garden and its annual growing cycle. Hoppers with many seasons’ experience were on hand to share their enthusiasm for this special community of voluntary helpers from all walks of life.
Now that the sheep are safely ensconced in the hop garden, the first task of the season – the cutting back of the early hop shoots – has largely been taken care of. But there are plenty more jobs to be getting on with before the growing season really starts in earnest.
With plenty of stories to swap over pints and pizzas, a good night was had by all.
