Hop Harvest party goes with a swing
On Saturday, the Hogs Back Brewery was bathed in glorious autumn sunshine as it hosted its first ever Hop Harvest party. Traditionally, hop harvest festivals were held in and around the hop-growing areas of Surrey to celebrate the successful harvest. This tradition was proudly carried on by the Hogs Back Brewery to mark the first harvest from its own hop garden, which is planted adjacent to the brewery.
Crowds turned out in numbers to try the brewery’s celebratory brew, green-hopped TEA, which was brewed with newly harvested, home grown Fuggles hops. The fresh, hoppy, aromatic beer went down well on a warm afternoon.
Yateley Morris Men started the afternoon off whilst the bouncy castle, skittles and face painting entertained the younger visitors.
Don’t Fret, featuring the brewery’s very own Sam Carrington, proved immensely popular with the crowds as they played an acoustic set before a rousing party finale and were ably supported by Walk Don’t Run, with Pete Royston, a member of the brewery’s Tongham TEA Club.
A fun day was had by all and the brewery hopes the hop harvest party will become a regular annual event.
