EPR Explained - Hogs Back Brewery

EPR Explained

The new Extended Producer Responsibility [EPR] tax is being introduced in UK as of April 2025.

EPR is a scheme, managed by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.  It aims to make producers responsible for the cost of collecting, managing and recycling its packaging.

The levy is measured on weight so beer bottles will be significantly impacted. It is estimated the increase on a 500ml bottle of beer will be 7p, plus VAT.

That’s why, as of the start of April 2025, we will have to increase the prices of our bottled beers sold in the Brewery Shop, online store, Tap and to our Trade customers.
