Competition winners enjoy VIP trip to the Brewery

Earlier this year, we ran a competition in conjunction with Tesco and with our Small Beer, Little Swine. Each bottle sold in 263 stores across the country had a unique code attached, where only 1 would claim the winning prize of a trip to the Brewery and Dinner, Bed & Breakfast at the beautiful Stag on the River pub just south of Godalming.

The winner, Richard Seed, picked up the winning bottle from his local Tesco Extra store in Carmarthen in South Wales. Alongside his partner Chloe, they visited the Brewery on Friday 11th September. Our original plans had to be changed slightly with social distancing in mind so some of the VIP activities had to be taken outside. Firstly they met with Brewery owner, Rupert for an introduction to the brewery and then Head Brewer, Miles met them to start the tasting with our cask ales, TEA and Surrey Nirvana Session IPA. Richard and Chloe then became the first customers to visit the canopy of the Brewhouse since tours were postponed earlier in the year.

Following that, they were met by tour guide Bruce, who took them through a little more history of the brewery and then went out into the Hop Garden. This was the perfect time to visit as it was just days before the start of the harvest and the hops were looking great. They were able to try the rest of our draught range including Hogstar Lager and Hog IPA before finishing with a table in the Summer Bar garden to enjoy a final few drinks.

Next year we will be running a similar competition to 'Win a day as Head Brewer'. You will have the chance to learn the process behind a brew and finish with a tasting of all the beers.
