Bro-ga comes to the Brewery!
Join us for Bro-ga at the Brewery – that’s “yoga for stiff blokes who need it most”!
We’ll be hosting a special class here at the Brewery, led by an expert Bro-ga instructor, on 16th April.

At Hogs Back Brewery we love working with local businesses that bring people together. So it made sense to link up with Bro-ga, the Surrey-based yoga movement designed specifically for men who might never normally step onto a yoga mat.

We caught up with Matt, the man behind Bro-ga, to find out what it’s all about, why men are getting involved, and why every class ends with a beer……
First things first… what exactly is Bro-ga?
Bro-ga is yoga for stiff blokes who need it most.
We launched in 2022 with a simple idea: get more men moving. As men get older, a lot of us start feeling it, stiff backs, tight hips, achy joints, and suddenly everyday things like tying your shoes or getting up from the floor aren’t quite as easy as they used to be.
Most men wouldn’t normally think about going to a yoga class, so Bro-ga was designed to remove that barrier. Our classes are specifically built for men with little or no yoga experience. It’s a welcoming, relaxed environment where you can stretch out, loosen up and start feeling better.
What sort of men come along to Bro-ga?
All sorts.
Some are runners or cyclists who need to loosen up. Others sit at desks all day and feel tight through their backs and shoulders. And plenty are just regular blokes who want to move better and feel less stiff.
You don’t need flexibility to start. In fact, most people join because they aren’t flexible.
The whole idea is that everyone is in the same boat. No pressure, no expectations.
Yoga can feel intimidating for some men. How do you make it more accessible?
That’s something we were really conscious of from the start.
There’s no expectation to turn up in fancy gear. Old t-shirts and baggy shorts are absolutely fine. Nobody is judging how flexible you are or how good you look doing a pose.
The sessions are designed so that beginners can join in comfortably, and everything is explained clearly. It’s about progress, not perfection.
Most guys quickly realise that everyone else in the room is dealing with the same stiff hips and tight hamstrings.
Bro-ga classes are also known for their social side…
Yes, that’s a big part of it.
One thing we noticed is that a lot of men don’t have many regular opportunities to socialise. Life gets busy with work and family, and before you know it you haven’t properly caught up with people in ages.
So, every class ends with a cold beer.
It gives everyone time to relax, chat, share stories and chew the fat with their mates. It turns the class into more of a community rather than just an exercise session.
That leads nicely onto the big question… why partner with Hogs Back Brewery?
It made perfect sense for us.
Bro-ga classes are all based in Surrey, and we’re big believers in supporting local businesses and communities. Hogs Back is a brilliant, well-known local brewery and it’s great to work with a brand that’s part of the same community we are.

Sharing a Hogs Back beer at the end of class just feels right. It keeps everything local and gives people something good to enjoy together after the session.
For someone curious but unsure, what’s the best way to try Bro-ga?
The easiest way is our 5-week trial.
It gives you a proper chance to experience what Bro-ga is about and start feeling the benefits. Within a few weeks most people notice they’re moving better, feeling stronger and generally less stiff.
And before long you’ll probably find yourself looking forward to the sessions just as much for the social side as the stretching.
Finally… what’s the big goal for Bro-ga?
Our mission is simple: get a million men moving.
If we can help men move better, feel healthier and build a bit of community along the way, that’s a win in our book.
