General Manager – Brewery Shop and E Commerce
Hogs Back Brewery is a thriving, family-owned business with a loyal customer base and a great reputation in the local area and beyond.
The Brewery Shop and online business is a key revenue and profit generator for the Brewery. This newly-created role requires an inspirational leader with proven flair and commercial ability, with the skill, energy and determination to drive and develop this part of the retail business and expand its e-commerce remit.
You will need a proven track record of commerciality, people management and excellence customer service, able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task between your key strategic and operational responsibilities.
As GM, you will:
- Have full P&L responsibility for meeting and exceeding sales and profit targets, and KPIs. Manage staff budgets for this 7-day a week operation.
- Create financial reports and use your strong analytical skills to develop and execute action plans to address shortfalls or exploit opportunities.
- Be able to demonstrate strategic thinking to maximise existing Shop revenue and e-commerce revenue streams as well as identifying incremental growth opportunities including e-commerce.
- Demonstrate strong sales and marketing skills, including e-commerce success.
- Be able to take a helicopter view to manage the strategic development of the business but at the same time work with the necessary attention to detail to ensure the day to day running of the business.
- Inspire, mentor and develop your team to reach their potential and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Instil Executional Excellence across all areas of the Retail Shop and e-commerce business, including stock management.
- Have full responsibility for ensuring the excellent quality of beer sold from the Brewery Shop cellar.
To thrive in this entrepreneurial environment, the ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience as a Retail Manager or equivalent, plus in-depth experience of digital marketing, e-commerce and sales. With a history of proven commercial results, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to roll their sleeves up to get the job done, the ambition to succeed is key, as is a genuine interest and enthusiasm for the beer market.
Ideally living within 15-20 minutes of the Brewery, you will normally work 42½ hours over 5 days, which will include some evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays, alongside the full- and part-time team.
Salary will be dependent on level of experience. A bonus scheme will be set against achievement over budget. Contributory pension scheme. 25 days holiday a year.
